Nintendo confirmed today what many suspected, 160,000 Nintendo Accounts received by third parties this month. Nintendo recently warned consumers on Twitter that they had started using two-factor authentication and at the same time reports had started leaking through social media that users' accounts had been compromised.
Nintendo said these accounts were accessed by Nintendo Network IDs. The company has now disabled access to a Nintendo account with a Nintendo Network ID and emailed the affected requesting them to change their passwords. Japan Nintendo says things like nickname, date of birth, country / region, email address and gender can all be affected. However, Nintendo says credit card details remain unaffected.
