Gamers in Latin America and the Caribbean are yet to see a major Nintendo-related shutdown soon this year. Nintendo has announced that, from July 31, 2020, they will be shutting down the Wii U and 3DS in the Shops region. By July 31, players in 42 countries will no longer be able to issue download codes, software with downloads, or software updates. Nintendo encourages players to use their own codes before the date arrives. Nintendo explained that these countries had "limited Nintendo Shops for the Wii U system and Nintendo 3DS family systems" that provided a few basic functions, such as the release of the game code ". Mexico has a full Nintendo Shop, so it's not affected by this closure. As for Brazil, Nintendo says that "Brazil has a full Nintendo eShop family of Nintendo 3DS systems and it does not have a full or limited Nintendo eShop version of the Wii U system".
