Nintendo revealed that in the next fiscal year, which covers the period April 2020 – March 2021, it is expected to sell about 19 billion units worldwide.
The weather reaches back to today's earnings report, in which Nintendo announced that the Schch family of systems had achieved $ 21.03 million sales throughout FY20. Nintendo's scenario shows that hardware sales are expected to drop by 9.6% next year, partly predicted due to problems around the coronavirus epidemic.
"There are concerns that COVID-19 will lead to a global decline in the product and its usage," Nintendo said. "Given this situation, we will work to continue to appeal the Nintendo switchch and Nintendo switchch Lite hardware and expand their installed base".
Its major plans for 2020 currently known to the public include the release of Xenoblade Chronicles: Edible Edition this month, Clubhouse Games: 51st International Classics in June, and the distribution of Expension Pass for Pokémon Sword and Shield in the summer. Sales of the software are expected to decline throughout the year, with Nintendo forecasting a 17% decline.
While its 2020 line-up still looks shorter in the face, Nintendo notes that "some software publishers are also planning to roll out a variety of interesting titles, and a combination of existing popular titles and a continuous stream of new titles will team up to strengthen the platform".
