Renewal (Thu 9th Jan, 2020 11:30 GMT): We received a statement from Sega explaining the disappearance. It says licensed agreements should be blamed for the removal of these games, and that each type of Football Manager can be sold for a "limited time".
"The type of licensing agreements signed by SEGA and Sports Interactive with clubs, lender and players means that we can only sell each type of Football Manager for a limited time. In this case, the removal of old versions of FM is empty. the ban applies to all types of FM on all platforms (so you will no longer be able to buy FM19 on Steam, for example). "
Original Article (Fri 20 December, 2019): Last week was introduced Football Manager 2020 Touch on Nintendo Switch, giving fans the chance to pick the latest version from the Shop at Christmas time. Surprisingly, it will appear that the old models – 2019 and 2018 – have been removed from the digital store to make way for the new title.
This trend was brought to us by Nintendo Life reviewers and the wonderful founder of Chris Scullion. As you can see below, Chris has noticed that the pages of both the 2019 and 2018 games have been reduced, with the old URLs now taking you to the error pages. Here is the link
Now, the reason for the removal is unclear at this stage so we don't want to guess Sega's intentions, but hopefully this isn't just a way to force fans to pick up the latest version. For anyone who is less controversial about getting renewed teams and more, the old, short, reduced hold makes a lot of sense; as it stands, only A way for new players to enjoy Football Manager with new purchases, wholesale prices.
We contacted Sega for comment on the cancellation of these two games and will update this story again if we hear back.
