A group of Wii U and 3DS players managed to stay online, despite server shutdowns, for over 25 days. And, in the process, they managed to beat the 14-year-old record he held Hello 2 fans.

GaffsNotLaffs (over it IgreRadar) follows users logged into the servers for a number of 3DS and Wii U games since the servers shut down on April 8, 2024. The “Nintendo Network Crazy 8” managed to defeat Noble 14, the last players left online after Halo 2’s network servers shut down. The record previously stood at 25 days, 1 hour and 58 minutes and was widely followed online.

One of the most notable attempts came by Lcd101 who is “the last Splatoon 1 player” online. Other games where players have managed to stay online include Pokémon X & Y, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario Maker and Xenoblade Chronicles X.

At the time of writing, seven players remain online, as one of the Xenoblade Chronicles X players has been disconnected from the server. That means there are two people more online, but hanging in Miri. Jealous? Our? Never…

How long will the Magnificent Seven remain? We’re not sure, but it’s been amazing to watch the community come together to pull off impressive and fun feats like this. Super Mario Maker in particular was a highlight, with players managing to clear the last level created for the game before the servers shut down.
