There’s nothing like a child’s imagination, right? Before the terrible reality of adulthood robs them of any innocence, children are able to completely change almost every aspect of their lives, including their personality, their environment and the people around them. It’s really extraordinary.
Parents in Japan apparently picked up on this and decided to use it Pikmin franchise to prevent their children from misbehaving. As noted by people over at Automatonparents essentially let their kids pretend to be Pikmin, ensuring they stay close when they’re out and about.
Translated, the tweet above reads:
“I four-year-old son always tries to wander off when we go shopping, so I told him, “you’re the Pikmin, and mom is the one the Pikmin follows around.” It worked so well. It follows my steps perfectly while squeaking like a Pikmin. Thanks, Nintendo, this one will work for a while.”
Other parents are also getting in on the action, with another stating that they will imitate blowing a whistle while shopping to rally their children:
“Same here. I son in high school and daughter in elementary school love Pikmin, so when I imitate whistling while shopping, they come up to me and gather around. They also want to carry toilet paper and stuff like little Pikmin. I’m so thankful Nintendo.”
It’s a really useful way of engaging children’s imaginations to prevent them from potentially misbehaving. It’s also a great demonstration of how the PIkmin franchise has resonated so well with audiences; something that is sure to grow exponentially with the release of Pikmin 4.
We recently reviewed Pikmin 4 and said it’s “a lavish strategy adventure that offers tons of fun for returning fans of the franchise, while adding plenty to entice new players to try it out.” If you’ve recently purchased Pikmin 4 and feel like you need a little help, be sure to check out our Pikmin Guide Hub as well.
