The creator of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Masahiro Sakurai tackled a hot topic in his latest YouTube upload – discussing the pros and cons of digital and physical game collections.
Sakurai admits he’s “all digital team” and doesn’t really consider himself a collector. Instead of focusing on the packaging of the game, he prefers to stick to the “experience” he has playing those games. He also mentions that he doesn’t really have room for a large physical game library anymore and decides to keep things compact with folders and other storage solutions.
Here are the obvious ‘advantages’ of each, according to Sakurai’s latest video:
Physical – Avg
- He can keep it forever
- Less data to install
- Collectable
- You do not need a points card/credit card to make a purchase
Digital – professionals
- Instant purchase
- Always available
- No need to go to the store
- It does not require space on the shelves
