So what did the other media think? Here’s the roundup, starting with RPG site – who seemed to enjoy the Switch version:
“Playable on Nintendo Switch in Docked mode, the graphics still pale in comparison to the sequel on the same platform – the visual fidelity has seen a noticeable improvement, and the ability to play the game while sitting with a controller is a welcome option.”
God is a nerd said that his time with the game was very good, noting how much he appreciated the dialogue:
“Dialogue is now in full English, as well as the weird language of the Monster Hunter hybrid that many of us are familiar with. It makes a huge difference to the storytelling and immersion.”
Tap Arcade shared some brief impressions of the Switch version, but expressed some minor concerns about the frame rate in this version of the game:
“Monster Hunter Stories on Nintendo Switch is an upgrade from the mobile version in some ways, but the fps is not stable at the moment. It basically seems to run unlimited with a target of 60fps, but it’s much better than Monster Hunter Stories 2 looks great on the Switch’s OLED screen, and the load times aren’t bad either.”
Siliconera experienced a new appreciation for the series thanks to the Switch release:
“Even after I just returned to Tales of monster hunters, the remaster is starting to make me appreciate this spin-off series even more. He really dared to do something different. Checking out the development art and experiencing it again makes me appreciate what Capcom started.”
AND Rant game is also quite happy with what has been sampled so far:
“No matter what Tales of monster hunters‘ age, the addition of remastered visuals and voices for each of the game’s characters may be more than enough to attract modern audiences, even those unfamiliar with Monster hunter franchise.”
