We do not have a date for the Switch 2, and we also do not know what its patron sorts of play will look like, but it seems that we may have already “leaked proportions” in physical cases of the game of the new system.
The French 'Fence' Fenn has allegedly shared the dimensions of the Plastic game of the Switch 2, and the new case design said 19.5 cm x 13 cm (through 'Necro' Felipe Lima of Nintendo space):
“Fnac's list for Nintendo Switch 2 Take-Two Interactive 2 has dimensions similar to the potential cover of physical media. Considering that measurements are correct, I made a simple assembly”
Comparison of this larger case, along with the original case of the game also works rounds online (by @cardnlh), and it seems that the new size of the case could be closer to the dimensions of the existing PlayStation and Xbox Game Packaging.
So, if – more plastic and these cases could also potentially take over more real estate in stores (and on shelves) around the world. As for the game, Nintendo has not yet shared any details about it, but the Switch 2 trailer “First Look” displayed the groove for the game cover, which is also located next to the audio connection.
If Switch 2 is anything like a DS jump to 3DS, a toy map may not be so different at all. Nintendo also confirmed the backward compatibility – noting that the new system will be able to play original Switch games, including “physical and digital” titles.
Nintendo will reveal more about Switch 2 on his upcoming direct presentation, broadcasting April 2, 2025.
