You don't know who Sega's mascot was for a while during the & # 39; 80s. No, we're not talking Alex Kidd – say Opa-Opa, a mysterious little life ship from Sega Astonishing Place. And that game is exactly what we have here, thanks to those gurus in the Tokyo-based M2.
The fantasy realm is still unknown to us Sega lovers, but it's fair to say that kids today may not know this thing completely. Released in response to another classic shooter, Gradius, The Fantasy Zone may look like Konami's original reality at first. Indeed, the specially designed jarring colors chosen to make the game different from most other space-based blasters can lead people to not expect a shooter at all. This is Sega, though; knew what it was doing, and turned the Sega & # 39; blue sky & # 39; it was indeed that's the kind that you needed. As well as Konami's TwinBee, type & # 39; nice-em-up & # 39; it was born.
This is not a simple horizontal shooter, however. Instead, this one is free roaming Protector. You explore this area from left to left destroying all bases scattered on the map while taking out enemies and avoiding bullets as you would any other shooter. Once all the bases are damaged, you move on to the boss. Those who have taken the previous release of the switch Kindle Explosion Machine
Where to use your standard ammunition and bombs. Instead of picking up new weapons and enhancements during the game – like most shooters – players instead visit stores where they will buy new weapons and upgrade their atmosphere using the money reduced by the reduced enemies. This combination makes the game very unique and far removed from time shooters, and while the visual style has been added & # 39; Marmite & # 39 ;, there is no doubt its popularity and character.
What to expect from the Switch version, then? Well, for those of you who are familiar with the previous releases of the M2 Sega Ages you will not be too surprised by what we have here. As you expect, you get the first Arcade game of System 16 mated to the standard high quality M2, and this still plays very well. It's an arcade game, combine the ability to choose the stages once you're done. The star of the show, however, is the new Model Upa-Upa. This stimulates things by eliminating weapons and improving stores completely. Instead, players can freely switch between various weapons and grenades using the shoulder buttons as long as they have gained enough gold to unlock that weapon.
Any concern that would make the game a little easier is dismissed by the fact that firing weapons is now used with gold per second, with powerful weapons that require more gold to fire. In practice, this means that there is now greater emphasis on taking on smaller enemies than the bases for accumulating as much gold as possible. A real shipwreck is applied before starting the play rather than being selected during play. Of course, this approach makes the game more fun and while it ultimately makes the game easier by having weapons available all the time, the deal is that you have plenty of opportunity to rebel against everything the game has to offer. This comes in handy with a very easy to understand mini-map direction that shows exactly where each base will appear on the screen rather than in its own difficult area (available in Arcade Mode too, but only if certain screen modes are used).
On top of this is Attack Mode, which may sound a little short compared to Upa-Upa Mode (and of course, it's not exactly the same), but M2 did a good job doing this in addition to the run-of-the-mile attack offering. First, players do not earn points in this mode at all
Aside from that, everything else here should be standard for those who have played other releases of the M2 Sega Ages. Standard screen modes are here, including 4: 3 and full screen 16: 9 (for pagans), and a low-pass filter is not in the reviewer's preferences, the scanline filter is much better than most. We recommend using one of the screen modes & # 39; Normal & # 39; in portable mode as this delivers full, full pixel scaling and looks great with scanlines.
Alternatively, we would really like to see more home ports included – in particular, i Game Master System, but also Sunsoft & # 39; s Famicom is a good version or port for PC Engine. The M2 usually focuses on specific types of games, but it violates that rule by installing a Mega Drive port Ichidant-R. Lack of renovation of M2 & # 39; s System 16 for Place of Miracle II It means they have improved – it would be a safe bet to expect a Sega Years: Fantasy Zone II Release somehow, each hopefully including the Master System game. We'll have to do with 3DS type until then, we guess.
Conclusion
Fantasy Zone is a fun game that can look hot Space Station either Relax Run, but there is one more important factor: gameplay. It's hard to recommend this one more Shinobi, and it's being released this week, but this is a great addition for anyone who's interested away from all things Sega.
