Sega launched its own account service, simply called – wait for it – Sega account.
Users can now sign up for free via official websitewith the service promising to offer unique rewards and benefits to those who play Sega and Atlus titles across all major platforms.
The sign-up process is pretty easy, and once you're done, you'll be able to connect your online profiles from Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam, with Epic Games compatibility coming soon, too.
There are currently no tangible benefits specifically for Switch owners, with the first prize being the Kazuma Kiryu costume DLC for the upcoming title Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii (valid until March 7, 2025), although we doubt they'll have much more to look forward to in the coming months; especially when the Switch 2 lands.
Although not yet available at the time of writing, the service will also allow you to register games you've played on Sega and Atlus, with records available via the website. No word on when this will launch, but we can't imagine the wait will be too long.
Last year, the company pulled SEGA Mega Drive Classics from sale before saying it was “evaluating” the idea of creating its own game subscription service. Chances are, if something like this comes to fruition in the future, it will probably be related to the newly created Sega Account scheme.
