Before its troubled launch last week, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection was already making headlines for “mistakenly” showing footage of a community-made mod in the official trailer.
At the time, developer Aspyr said the final release did not include “any code or content” from “unnamed sources,” but now traces same Asajj Ventress mod by ‘iamshaymin’ they were revealed in the release of the game.
As he pointed out IGN, a screenshot of the PS5 upgrade on Reddit shows iamashaymin’s Asajj Ventress “no credits” mod. According to reports from multiple players this has been patched and replaced with Aspyr’s version, but it appears the mod still exists in an earlier version of the game, after Aspyr said it wouldn’t.
iamshaymin: “We don’t know how or why my Ventress ended up in full release when they specifically told us she wouldn’t be.”
The same modder mentioned that the launch of the collection was “a complete mess” – “especially considering that they were “rumored that part of the patch removed content that they already said was removed months ago”.
Here’s what Aspyr had to say in response to the original story about this (via IGN):
“We’d like to thank the passionate Star Wars: Battlefront community for bringing this to our attention. While recording the placeholder footage for our announcement last fall, we mistakenly included non-product content, and that mistake made it into the final cut. The upcoming release of Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection does not include any code or content that has been downloaded from sources not listed.”
Aspyr also released a statement about the game’s online multiplayer launch, which you can read in our previous post here on Nintendo Life:
