Polygon has published an insightful interview with Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe that touches on the live concert series and, of course, the version 1.6 update, which launches first on PC this month, followed by console and mobile versions. ConcernedApe says that what is publicly known about the update has only scratched the surface, so it sounds like players will have a meaty update to go for. Here’s what was said:

“It’s stressful, but it’s also exciting. Releases are the most fun part of game development. Then you actually see people playing it and talking about it [the game] and share their screenshots. So I’m really looking forward to that. It is also a time of high intensity. The patch is almost ready to use. But there are still a few things I still have to do. Until everything is completely sealed, it’s going to be a bit stressful.”

Quite a bit is known about the 1.6 update, which will add new festivals, tons of late-game content, and even cold-weather clothing for villagers during the winter, but Barone says what’s publicly known has only scratched the surface. “What I have betrayed is only a little. There are a lot more updates than people think,” he said.

When asked to compare it to update 1.5, the massive patch that added a brand new island to the world of Stardew Valley, Barone said this one is a little different. “It’s more focused on the valley and central areas of the game. It just adds so much to all the different aspects of the game.”
