After much fanfare and even some technical hiccups, Grasshopper Manufacture was finally able to broadcast its special “Direct” presentation today. After discovery Shadows of the damnednow it’s being teased that the game will “likely” come to “all current platforms.”
While this is open to interpretation, last week Goichi “Suda51” Suda commented on social media that fans would “probably” be able to play on handheld devices as well. The Switch is also technically a “current” generation system, so hopefully that means it’s part of the Grasshopper release plans.
Suda51: “We’re releasing Shadows of the Damned Remaster! You can play it handheld (probably).”
Shadows of the Damned was originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2011. It invited players to take on the role of demon hunter Garcia who embarks on an action-packed adventure to save his true love. Here’s a bit about his background and what this game has to offer:
“Originally published in June 2011. Shadows of the damned invited players to take on the role of Garcia, an unflappable, leather-clad, motorcycle-riding professional demon hunter whose true love is kidnapped by vengeful demons. As he explores the furthest reaches of the underworld, Garcia battles through hell and back, with danger and unrest around every corner. Players will be challenged by insane puzzles and engage in gruesome battles with vile and deformed creatures that can only come from the darkest corners of hell. More details about the remaster will be revealed at the Grasshopper Direct next week!”
Towards the end of the show, Suda51 was introduced playing what could be a new project. It’s unclear at this stage exactly what it might be, but if we hear any developments we’ll let you know. Here is what the Court says about it:
Suda51: “Is this okay…? Our next game is right here on the screen…” (points to the television screen)
You can catch this scene around 10 minute mark in the video stream (warning: mature language). There were also fake ads throughout the broadcast, which may or may not be previews of what’s to come…
