Earlier in 2024, Nintendo unveiled a new system for its Switch Online ‘Missions and Rewards’ that requires users to play a retro game before they can buy icons.
We’ve seen it with games like Super Mario World and The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, and the same “play and redeem” offering is now available for Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. As you can see below, you can currently unlock all kinds of classic icons related to this particular entry. These icons will be available until August 5, 2024

Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels was added to Nintendo’s Switch Online NES library back in 2019. Here’s a little about the game, and you can see it in action at the top of this page.
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels – Originally published in Japan as Super Mario Bros.® 2, this game had only briefly appeared in the Western Hemisphere before that. Fans of Mario will appreciate the familiar look and feel of the game, while finding that its updated gameplay creates a whole new challenge. Along with the classic enemies already familiar to fans around the world, there are Po ison Mushrooms, backwards Warp Zones, and the occasional gust of wind (which can help or hinder your progress).
