Nine Sols, a 2D indie Souls that combines Taoism and cyberpunk, is now rated in Taiwan for Switch and other consoles. Released on PC in May earlier this year, it’s the latest game from Red Candle Games and a departure from their previous works – the psychological horror duo Detention and Devotion.
Gematsu recently broke the news in an X post:
With hand-drawn art, Metroidvania exploration, and a deflection-based combat style inspired by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Nine Sols received “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on Steam, making it a worthy addition to any console Souls or indie collection.
It follows Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus from earlier this year, which was another game with Metroidvania elements inspired by Asian beliefs and traditions.
While the Nine Sols rating doesn’t directly guarantee its release, it certainly points to it, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more. In the meantime, readers can watch the announcement of the May issue below:
