He chose Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: DX Rescue Team when it was released last week? If so, you'll be happy to hear Nintendo and the Pokémon Company will soon release their bug-breaking game patch.
According to official official notes, there is a glitch that occurs in the holes with the corrected band. Here's how it turned out (thanks, Completely Nintendo):
fixes a broken game that takes place in the pits w ith a modified party. It happens when the opponent and their partner are knocked out of the hole, and you remove the third Pokémon from your team. To avoid a dispute, simply decide to remove that third party. Once you have it, and can no longer play as a result, the update will allow you to play
Aside from the splendor, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon seems to have started well in many regions. In both Japan and the UK, it went straight to the top of the charts. Interestingly, in the UK, its sales as deductions increased 37.6% higher Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon on the 3DS. And in Japan so far, they have been able to move an estimated 138,548 units in their opening week.
