Plucky Squire has received an update that boasts improvements of life quality, new dialog portraits for characters and improved ways of working – an alternative to experienced players who would rather adventure with less hand holding and interruption.
The update is available on Steam but will soon arrive on consoles, including Nintendo Switch.
Here's what the programmer All Passible Futures had to say in his announcement:
In improved fashion, you will play through Jot's adventure faster pace! We watched feedback on the game and one of the points that appeared was that the pace for some players was too slow. Enter: Simplified mode!
The simplified way of working is intended for more experienced players who want smaller guidelines and more actions. For example! The door is unlocked – do you really need to stop the game and move the camera and look at how it opens? Maybe not! In a simplified mode, it doesn't work! This is one of many examples of reduced directing.
We cut some fat from the dialogue in a simplified way of working – a line here, a line there … It's not like we've thrown out the whole scenes, we just shortened parts for more … Simplified … experience.
We also added portraits of spoken clouds to follow who is talking while chasing.
Finally, we have included some improvements and changes in quality of life. We have increased the number of historical automatic storage that is guarded and we have added a function to restart the current chapter. If you get stuck somewhere, both should help you. Automatic saving was moved to a place in a menu that is easier to find and we added a way to change the language in the game.
