Last year it was announced that animation studio Bobbypills would adapt the hugely popular Metroidvania Dead Cells into an animated TV series.
After quite a long wait, we now have our first proper trailer for the upcoming series, officially titled Dead Cells: Immortal, and it looks, well, kind of cool! It leans towards humor a lot more than we expected. Admittedly, we’re not quite sure what we expected, but given the game’s connection to Castevania, we may have had the latter Netflix adaptation in mind when envisioning a potential Dead Cells show.
Still, given the fact that Bobbypills worked closely with Motion Twin and Evil Empire to animate the official trailers for the game, we can be confident that the team probably knows what they’re doing with the TV series.
The 10-episode series will debut in France via the Animated Digital Network today June 19, 2024. An English dub and a worldwide release will follow later in the year, but for now you can watch the subtitles on the trailer above and still get a sense of what the story will be about.
Meanwhile, Evil Empire recently confirmed that development on Dead Cells will cease, and the team is currently hard at work on development Rogue Prince of Persia
