The latest boxed video game software rankings are in for Europe’s biggest gaming market, the United Kingdom. There were a few new entries this week in the top ten, with Dead Island 2 coming in at #1, Minecraft Legends at #2, and Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp at #3. Interestingly, Minecraft Legends sold the most boxed copies on the Nintendo Switch family of systems, shifting 76% of copies to the platform, although it should be noted that it’s also on Game Pass. Here is the GfK UK Boxed Top Ten for the week ending 22 April 2023:
“Missing second place is Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp on N intendo Switch (although the game is number 2 in the individual format rankings). This game was destined to be a tough sell. It is the first game in the series after 15 years. It was originally supposed to be at the beginning of last year, but it was postponed after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. When it finally arrived, it launched in a tough market and just weeks before Nintendo’s big new game (The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom). As a result, it’s no surprise that it hasn’t achieved huge numbers, but it has found an audience after positive reviews last week.”
