As many of you will know, the UK centric video game marketer has been struggling financially for the past few years. Today, things are not looking much better for the firm. The UK high street is changing and most people are either buying their games online at places like Amazon UK or buying their games electronically. GAME has announced that it is likely to close 40 stores. Our thoughts go out to the staff as we have already placed 27 locations marked for closure.
"We are working closely with landlords across the UK to make sure that we do not have to evacuate 40 locations which could lead to job losses," the company's statement read. "However, we are facing a challenging retail market and a long-standing GAME of sales, it needs to be redesigned and landowners need to work with us in planning realistic and fair taxes."
