Right now you are reading the sixth article of an idea that has been baptized as Short footage in which, in a brief text, I will talk about topics related to Nintendo and the world of video games in general with the intention of opening a debate about them.
In the current industry landscape, it is normal to see a company delay one of its games because they need more time to complete their development, but unfortunately this is becoming too common practice.
There are people who have already forgotten, although there are people who have not, but The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild suffered two delays that made this work go from going out in 2015 to do it in 2017. And this is not the only case, since the last installment of the saga Animal crossing I should have left the past 2019, but on the contrary the March 20, 2020. Another slightly different case is that of Metroid Prime 4, since although it has never had a release date (neither exact nor approximate), it was announced very soon that it was in development so that later it was announced that it would start again from scratch.
But this doesn't just happen to the big N, since in the last months three of the most anticipated games of the year have been delayed for external consoles to Nintendo, these being: Final Fantasy VII Remake, The Last of Us Part 2, and the one that I think is the most important of all, Cyberpunk 2077.
Now, and to close the article, I would like to tell you what, in my opinion, we can do as consumers. The first and most important thing is not to buy the games, or at least, in case we want it in physical and there is a real danger that they are over, do not pre-buy it until a couple of weeks are gone and you almost don't know I can delay the game. Do not listen to me what I just said if what you are interested in is in the collector's edition, which in many games ends very quickly. On the other hand, we should never trust if a release date is announced too many months before its launch (as was the case with Cyberpunk 2077).
At the end of the day, I understand that announcing a launch date serves to start earning the first pre-purchases or reservations and thus be able to make the first statistics facing investors, but I don't know if it is worth doing if in return you lose part of User confidence. What opinion do you deserve delays? Do you think it is a good way to avoid crunch? Leave us what you think in the comments!
