CES, footage, puppet, Switch, Video

CES 2025 is only one day away, and it's quickly turning into an event where the floodgates have really burst on Switch 2 rumors and leaks. a console that Nintendo still hasn't officially revealed.

We already reported on the Switch 2 dummy model that was at CES 2025. However, French media outlet Numerama has now released a video of the model. The video also features a demonstration of how the Joy-Cons connect to the console, and the Joy-Cons now appear to be magnetic. A comparison of the Switch 2 doll was also made with the Switch 1, with the former being clearly larger.

That's not all. Numerama also shared additional details on her page. It was revealed that the reason why Genki is showing all of this in advance is because Genki does not have any contract or partnership with Nintendo. What is particularly interesting is that Genki told Numerama that the console will be released in April. In fact, they even directly stated that they will be releasing their add-ons, 8 of them to be exact, at the same time as the console's release.

Genki also tells Numerama that the Switch 2 Joy-Cons do indeed have the new optical sensor that has been the subject of recent rumors and leaks. Genki says it's a new feature of the console, “even if it hasn't been able to test the games that use it.” The magnetic connection of the new Joy-Cons is apparently “very strong” and there is a button to detach them from the console. Numerama says that while they couldn't show it on video, they did see some Switch 2 Joy-Cons with a colored joystick. However, they noted that “it is impossible to tell whether these are real accessories or replicas designed for promotional purposes.”

As for the Switch 2 itself, Numerama reports that there is a second USB-C port on the top of the console. What's quite shocking is that, according to what multiple accessory manufacturers have told Numerama, it's actually possible to get the console through the black market, but only if you “put money in.” Numerama isn't sure if this is true or not, but they clearly state that multiple accessory manufacturers are telling them that they actually have a real Switch 2 unit and have made their molds out of it.

It also turns out that Genki isn't the only one demanding an April console release. According to Numerama, “several accessory manufacturers” have agreed that April will be the month the Switch 2 will be released. Of course, by now you're well aware of the fact that news like this should always be kept open minded due to the fact that it doesn't come directly from Nintendo. Nevertheless, you can see a video of the Switch 2 doll model below.
