What are you playing this weekend? (April 20)

I’m still working my way through the Pokémon Trading Card Game after falling back into the trap of being a bit obsessed with cards right now. I’m sure this will pass. I hope they will for my bank balance.

To get my mind off of this, I was actually dying to restart a Hollow Knight save and play from the beginning again. I don’t know, there was something about this week and game that shall not be named which put me in the mood for a little Hallownest exploration. Maybe I’ll finish it this time…

I’ve started playing Slave Zero X on Switch (and look out for my review soon), but otherwise most of my gaming time is currently on Xbox. I haven’t seen it yet, but the hype about the new one Turn out The TV series brought me back to the Capital Wasteland with Fallout 3. It’s just so wonderful and I often forget how great it really is.

I took the Playdate on a recent flight to get started Mars after midnight and I would like to continue with it this weekend. I also picked up Muramasa: The Demon Blade after reading Alana’s anniversary feature, so that disc should slide into my Wii U as well. However, as the Game Boy turns 35, I want to squeeze in some quality time with my DMG-001. Or maybe I should finally sit down and dig into the Link’s Awakening remake on Switch? We’ll see what I have time for. Have a great time, folks.

This weekend I plan to play Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Justice for All. I finished the first two cases and can’t wait to see what comes next. I especially liked the second case — it had a very cool plot and a nice twist at the end (haha). I’m also planning to meet up with some friends to play TowerFall and WarioWare: Move It! I’m especially excited to play Move It since the short time I spent with it was absolutely superb. So yeah, lots of video games to play this weekend. I’m excited!

The eShop continues to provide safe entertainment with Freedom Planet 2 and Dead End City as two particularly favorite choices to spend the weekend. While the EDF bug remains, I also plan to continue with mine Halo: Spartan Strike go through the game and steadily progress in Unicorn Overlord. Don’t think my race and gun run (Nice!) is over, this weekend is all about the ’90s, the golden age of everything. There will be a lot of them Contra in these 48 hours. Gunstar Heroes and Metal Slug too!

I game of the week is Planet of Lana. It seems like forever since I first saw a release announcement for every other platform out there, but finally this gem has arrived on the Switch. Releasing the day before the Indie World Direct might take this off a lot of people’s radar, so I say go play it!

I was playing Fallout: New Vegas again after watching 1.5 episodes of the fallout show and thinking to myself, “this is not nearly as good as playing fallout”. I’d love to see Fallouts come to the Switch one day, and now that Microsoft is opening up to the idea of letting their exclusives roam free on other consoles………that’s never going to happen though, is it? A girl can dream.

Craig Reid, Video Producer (Pure Xbox)

Thanks to a good guy here at Nintendo Life, I’m now completely and utterly obsessed with Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! — those little horses are so freaking adorable, I just can’t stand their squishy heads! So that’s where you’ll most likely find me most of the weekend.

Having said that, I just made a big move at that old Nintendo store and invested in a Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Ironically, I haven’t touched the game since I bought it…mmm, that’s when I best catch up, hey?

Oh, oh! I forgot! I’m currently raving about Fallout Shelter (I’ll give points if I guess why). I must have the biggest fucking vault in all of Pustopoljina right now. That reminded me that I need to get back to monitoring the residents, so I’ll leave you with that. Happy gaming, folks!

New Direct (read: Indie World) means more demos, right? Europe is on my list to dive into this weekend — I’ve been loving the way this has looked since it was announced and I’m so glad it’s coming to Switch. Antonblast is also going in my download queue.

I picked up one of the shadows during Indie World — Sticky Business. Apparently sweet ‘n’ cozy is what I need after my short stint in Soulsborne (I’ll get back to that soon). That’s all I have for this week folks – enjoy!
