What are you playing this weekend? (June 1)

I collected credits on Animal Well this week, which means I only have about 97% of the game left to complete. I plan to do some research this weekend and see how many times I can mutter to myself “Wait, as long as I could that?”

I also have a great desire to play Astro game room on another console. Despite sitting there for as long as I’ve had my PS5, I’ve never touched it. I should probably correct that, right?

I’m drawn back into the world Danganronpa, so I played Trigger Happy Havoc again. I’m in the market for a PS Vita, so I’ve been scouring eBay quite a bit recently. I have such fond memories of playing Danganronpa on my original Vita during my lunch break at work, and I’m so mad at myself for getting rid of it. nerd.

I finally bought elsewhere God of War Ragnarok on PS5. I don’t know why I put it off for so long, but my goodness, it’s really good so far. The fighting is superb and I absolutely love Ryan Hurst’s performance as Thor.

Alex Olney, video producer

I got NieR Automata: End of YoRHa Edition last Christmas and I’m ashamed to say I only recently started playing it. Of course, I went straight for the difficulty, and anyone familiar with the game will know that was probably a mistake. After an hour or so of trying I just decided that ‘Normal’ was fine too.

So I’ll play it this weekend. That and some Nocturnal (good game).

After reimmersing myself in Tears of the Kingdom last weekend, I’m now busy in the skies above Faron. I also can’t wait to get back to Shadows of Valentia and chat around Hades II over the past month I’ve wanted to go back to the original and run away from the Old Man a few more times. If I remember correctly, I’ve only beaten him twice, so there’s still a lot of work to do to get to the true ending.

I’ve also (fingers crossed) managed to get a free PS4 from a relative, so I’m putting together a shortlist of last-gen exclusive PlayStation games to catch up on. It is right now The Last of Us Part II, The last guardian, Bloodborneand Spider man. Let me know in the comments if there are any other must-sees I should be on the lookout for.

I’m on vacation this weekend and — don’t kill me, please — I didn’t bring my Switch. But I brought my Steam Deck. Most of the newer games I bought were PC exclusives, so it made more sense, even though it’s a lot bulkier.

I’m going to Banff, which means most of my weekend will hopefully be out, but when I’m not out, I might give Kill the princess go! I’ve been looking forward to playing it for a long time and just haven’t had the time. I also just bought Sun Haven to fill a farming game shaped place in my heart that has been unfilled for a while. I hope it’s good!

Somehow it’s June and I’m still dabbing Unicorn Overlord. With the last continent under the brittle iron fist of my absolute rule, the endgame is nigh. It will come as no surprise to tell you that I have yet to conquer the final boss of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown so maybe, just maybe this weekend, I can put that behind me. I dusted off my 8bitdo arcade stick and will be playing inhuman amounts Devil Blade reboot, Astrolancer, Ginga force and The Natsuki Chronicles on the computer. When that itch appears, you have to scratch it. And on that trail…

I game of the week is Macross Shooting Insight. It’s far from the definition of “average dud” in every way, but the physical edition in particular had the right price to resist. Being a huge Macross fan, I’ll admit this is fan service done right. Unfortunately, as you can imagine, the licensed soundtrack is very streaming-unfriendly, with copyright notices popping up with every boss fight. Damn you, protoculture!

That’s what we have planned for the weekend, what about you? Take the following poll with the game you’ll be running over the next few days, then slide into the comments to let us know what other titles are on the cards.
