What are you playing this weekend? (March 2)

Jim Norman, staff writer

I wish I could say I’ll be playing something other than Balatra, really. Unfortunately, that would be a lie. Who would have thought that after a week of playing Pocket Card Jockey, what would distract me would be… more cards? Who cares! The numbers are beautiful and I can’t get enough of the little things that make me happy ding whenever i do something cool.

I’m really glad I’m the only person who’s heard of this game and no one else will be playing it this weekend…

I’m going to be playing Balatro a lot this weekend, because my god, what a game. If you haven’t tried it yet, I advise you to try it. I’m also playing some review stuff at the moment, so more on that soon, and I’ll get back to Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster, which turned out to be a very pleasant surprise.

As for the PS5, I’m sure many will be playing a certain JRPG this weekend, but I’ll go back to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard for another run; it’s been a minute since I last played it, so it will be interesting to see if I can beat my speed record.

I only played Balatra. I don’t remember life before Balatra. There is only Balatro.

Actually, no, that’s a lie. I also played Heavenly Bodies with a friend. It’s like two players QWOP, but you’re trying to fix the space station! Very entertaining.

Then, back to Balatro.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will be finished this weekend! The soundtrack will treasure my memories of it for the foreseeable future. After this is done, we return to Mad Max. There are still a few hours left in my Unicorn Overlord demo before the real thing comes out. The absurdly long title of Shiren the Wanderer: The Isterious Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island will make up the rest of the weekend. This is just the latest game in a long-running series that I love and can easily pour hours into without even realizing the passage of time…assuming I can escape Balatro long enough, that is.

It’s the game of the week DUNE — 1992 Cryo produced game related, in case you were wondering. Watching my favorite sci-fi book become reality on the big screen and needing the equivalent of Arrakis for my game fix, it’s always this long-forgotten classic that best sums up Frank Herbert’s stunning universe.

That’s what we have planned for the weekend, what about you? Take the following poll with the game you’ll be running over the next few days, then slide into the comments to tell us what other titles are on the cards.
