What are you playing this weekend? (March 23)

Still knee deep in Balatra, me. I’ve tried re-ordering my Jokers and that seems to have helped a few runs — I’m getting there, but haven’t made it yet. Will come. Perhaps the game’s greatest triumph is the ‘feel’, I think. Subtle card shake and great use of HD rumble. Other than Balatro, a few days worth of Pikmin 4 sounds good. I would love to dive into Princess Peach: Showtime! after reading PJ’s review, but that one will have to wait until payment.

Have a great time, people!

I’m currently playing a few ‘retro’ games including Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Turrican Flashback and Mega Man Legacy Collection. I’m not in the mood to play anything also massive at the moment so I’m done with these.

That said, after watching the trailer for Alien: Romulus, I restarted Alien Isolation. I’m constantly amazed at how atmospheric it is and how well it looks and works on the Switch. Buy it.

IT IS DRAGON’S DOGMA 2 WEEKEND, BABY! I’ll probably be injecting it directly into my veins most of this weekend, and when I’m not doing that… I might take a Balatro once in a while. I’m at the point in Balatro where the challenges are just ticking off, which is less exciting than the initial rush of unlocking things and exploring the unknown, but it’s still fun!

I love Contra: Operation Galuga so much that I’m not only still replaying it, I’m dusting off my PS2 copies Counter: Broken soldier and No counter (did you know you were fighting a dog in this one?). Smooth progress on Unicorn Overlord as I slowly spread my banner across all the continents of Cornia. Most people on my Discord server have to log in HELLDIVERS (2015 original because it’s never too late for democracy) and a Humble Bundle of five Earth Defense Forces games so I’m looking forward to a lot of online bug hunting and a big explosion. I was able to phone this WAYPTW entry by simply typing “Oh peaches, peaches, peaches…” about a hundred times to celebrate the release of Princess Peach Showtime! but the package that arrived from the far east shifted my focus…

It’s the game of the week Game Center CX: Arino’s Challenge 1+2 Replay! I’m not really confident that this one will get a proper western release so I’ve been diving into the Japanese import. Arin’s piece of retro gaming is my favorite Japanese TV show of all time (sorry Takeshi’s castle!) and while I’ll definitely be replaying the first entry (which I still own on DS), I’m more excited to play the second entry for the first time. Finally all these wonderful fake retro games on the big TV screen! Kacho ON!

I’m free next week — which means I might finish Final Fantasy VII Rebirth! But in reality, I won’t be playing much for the next few days because we’re getting ready to move. That means a lot of packing, tidying, and trying to stop the cat from climbing on moving boxes.

I picked up Please, Touch The Artwork the other day for less than £1.00 and it turned out to be a charming little game. I also think I’ll finally dive into that hot Capcom property soon. You know, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. I hear the sequel is very good.

That’s what we have planned for the weekend, what about you? Take the following poll with the game you’ll be running over the next few days, then slide into the comments to tell us what other titles are on the cards.
