I’ll be mostly playing through the review game this weekend, so keep an eye out for that game next week. If I find time for anything else though, I think I’ll go back to Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. I started it before Echoes of Wisdom and it was wonderful, so it seems only right to finish it while I’m on top of my Zelda kick.

After reviewing Killing Time: Resurrected along with RetroRealms: Ash vs Evil Dead and Halloween, all I want to do is keep playing them. This year has been absolutely fantastic for retro revivals and homages, and the spooky vibes from all three of these games lend themselves quite nicely to the upcoming Halloween celebration.
On PS5, I almost finished my first playthrough Silent Hill 2. I’m staying at the Lakeside Hotel and it’s been a wonderful experience so far. I can’t wait to see how it ends before I’m right back at the start for another run.

I kind of gave up on Echoes of Wisdom after I got Lord Jabu-Jabu and felt like they should have called it “Echoes of Bed” because of how often I use that item to solve puzzles… but a few friends of mine convinced me to return It’s not the best Zelda game — it’s not even the best Grezzo game — but I’m trying to love it for what it is, not what it’s not.
I’ve also been playing a lot of Core Keeper. It definitely becomes an inventory management puzzle in the mid to late game, but I’m having a blast with it! Also, I was into Hello Kitty Island Adventure, before it came out on Switch. That’s probably a mistake because I’ll have to start over when it comes out next year, but I’m surprised at how much I’m enjoying it!
Oh, and I downloaded Pikmin Bloom. I’m late to the party, I know…

This week I’d like to finish Echoes of Wisdom and move on to something else — GOTY is getting closer and closer, shaking waves into my cup of water on the NL dashboard! The recent announcement of the sequel Alien: Isolation makes me want to sit down and actually play a game I bought on sale years ago, and I’m only a third (maybe) of the way through Blasphemous 2… but who has time for games that aren’t released in 2024!? After I save Hyrule, there will be a showdown between Natsu-Mon and Shogun.

For me this time it’s back to the jazzy streets of Tokyo as I return to Persona 5 Royal. I got distracted after about 30 hours and thought I had lost the thread, but it was surprisingly easy to get back into the groove. In the meantime, we’ll spend some “parenting” time playing Another Code R: Journey to Lost Memories. This was great to play with the kids because it’s very relaxed and the puzzles are easy for you. All in all, pretty relaxed then – I haven’t been tempted by any Halloween horror games yet!

This weekend I was going to talk about something horrifying ahead of Halloween! No, I don’t mean The Walking Dead: Destinies – that’s a different kind of horror. I’d rather fire up Luigi’s Mansion 3, light candles around the room, have a séance, and vacuum some ghosts.

October is my favorite time of year and I generally stick to horror themed games during the creepy season, along with watching the scariest movies I can find. This weekend I’ll be looking for some alternate endings in Faith: The Unholy Trinity, an indie retro horror gem I recently finished reviewing for Nintendo Life.
I also plan to fire up my 3DS for a new playthrough of Luigi’s Mansion, which I unfortunately never finished. The exception to the horror rule will be The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which I’m still deviating from. The echo mechanics are brilliant and I love mixing top-down Zelda dungeons with Zelda’s free open world creativity.

It’s my old birthday this weekend, so I’ll be getting together with a few friends for what I’m sure will be a very cordial and swear-free session of Mario Party shenanigans. Multiplayer with friends, let alone multiplayer on the couch, is an extremely rare joy for me these days.
As such, it’s hard for me to justify picking it up Super Mario Party Jamboree for the occasion when I only picked up my copies Super Mario fun and Mario Party Superstars several times since their release. Ah, who knows — the new one looks great and this might be the only chance I get to play it with friends for a long time, so maybe I’ll make it a little present for myself.

Good things ahead Thors, TRANSFORMERS: Galactic Trials, Bloodless, military conscript and adorably nostalgic UFO Robo Grendizer: Feast of Wolves. Despite having no friends to play with, the single player portion Super Mario Party Jamboree it turns out to be quite solid. He’ll continue to make progress on Baker, but a new operation has arrived for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines II and the Emperor is looking for his own.
It’s the game of the week Neva. Surpass GRIS no easy feat, but from what I’ve played so far, this is another work of art fueled by the Berlin soundtrack along with amazing art direction. Look how that wolf grows!
That’s what we have planned for the weekend, what about you? Let us know in the poll below which games you plan to launch in the next few days.
