Without a doubt within the world of the videogames There are emblematic sagas that, despite the years since their debut, remain as strong as the first day, largely due to the love and support of their fans who do not hesitate to get hold of each of the new installments that are released. One of them is Nintendo’s Super Mario franchise.
However, like any saga, it has its own mysteries. One of them would be to know how old is mario. As you all know, Mario debuted in 1981 as Jumpman in the arcade game Donkey Kong. Later, in 1983, Mario Bros. was released, followed by Super Mario Bros. in 1985, the beginning of a franchise that has released more than 200 titles to date.

Apparently the famous plumber has remained ageless throughout his career, but in reality, Nintendo once detailed Mario’s approximate ageand he is probably younger than many of you think.
These are the details that are known:
- According to an interview conducted in 2005 by Nintendo with Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of the Mario series, was intentionally designed without many personality attributes, so as not to inhibit ideas for future games. However, the team decided that Mario should be around 20 years old, approximately between 24 and 25 years (This would explain his agility and relentless resistance in trying to save Princess Peach).
- Mario seems not to age throughout the games, thus creating a timeless character.
- There are some clues that suggest that Mario does age. A Nintendo Power issue from 1988 (via Twitter user Fantasy World 9) notes that Mario’s birthday is October 11, indicating that the plumber ages every year. TOothers, in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mario’s trophy indicates that it has 26 years.
- Miyamoto (via shmuplations) also called Mario “old weirdo” on one occasion. If Mario really ages, assuming he was between 24 and 25 years old at the 1985 release of Super Mario Bros., he would now be between 60 and 61 years.

Let us also remember that although Mario would have between 24 and 25 yearsnothing is confirmed yet.
What do you think?
