Japanese developer Monolith Soft is growing year by year. In a previous update – dating back to 2021, the company revealed that its headcount had jumped from 261 (as of December 2020) to 272.
As pointed out by Twitter user and gaming enthusiast Secretlythe latest update for 2022 is a little different – with new annual data revealing that the company’s headcount has dropped from around 272 employees to 264 in December 2022. This is just an interesting fact and nothing to worry about.
In addition to these, some other information has been published on the Monolith website. As of December 2022, the average age in the company is 36.5 years, and the gender ratio is 27.7% women and 72.3% men. And this is the distribution of occupations in the company: 51% are artists, 15.9% are planners, 16.3% are programmers, 9.1% per form administrative tasks, and 6.8% are assigned to “other” development.
Overall, Monolith Soft experienced strong growth during the Switch generation – with more than 100 individuals joining the company during this period. It has also become a major support team for Nintendo over the years – helping out on all sorts of franchises including The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon and the Animal Crossing series.
It recently released Xenoblade Chronicles 3 last July and is now hard at work on the third and fourth DLC packs for the game’s Expansion Pass. The third pack will contain a new hero and challenge, and the fourth will contain a new original story. Find out more in our previous report:
