Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra has been announced, and this represents other bad news for anyone who maintains the hope of another convincing compact smartphone.
Until last year, Asus was the last torchlight carrier remaining for small high quality phones which can be comfortably integrated into a pocket of jeans before. The genus correctly adjusted, not the puffy type that children wear every day.
When the year has come and came without a sign of an Asus Zenfone 11 to follow the Asus Zenfone 10, our hopes took a major hit. Now, with the unveiling of the Ultra Asus Zenfone 12, it seems that all hope is lost.
We contacted Asus and said, “We have no specific comments to make around a compact zenfone”.
What is Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra?
We started talking about what the Ultra Asus Zenfone 12 is not, but let's talk about what it is. In other words, another very competent flagship smartphone and direct monitoring of the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra.
This means an AMOLED FHD + LTPO display with a familiar appearance of 6.78 inches which is not the idea of compact, as well as the same faster refresh rate as the average 144Hz.
With a weight of 220 g and a thickness of 8.9 mm, the Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra is downright important even in terms of regular telephone. Compare it simply to the recent Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus, which has a similar display size but weighs 190 g and measures only 7.3 mm thick.
Asus justified this additional circumference with a 5500mAh battery but again, the OnePlus 13 recently managed to pile up a 6000mah cell in a fractionally lighter body. The cable load 65W and the 15W qi (not Qi2, unfortunately) make a return.

What's new this time?
Although it is an iterative update on Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra, there are some new specifications to say.
The most obvious is the use of the latest Elite Snapdragon 8 chip from Qualcomm, which quickly turns out to be a bit of a star. This chip seriously impressed us in the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the OnePlus 13, not to mention the Asus Rog Phone 9 Pro (with which the ZenFone 12 Ultra DNA sharing).
There is not much change on the front of the camera, beyond a hybrid cardan stabilizer with 6 axes updated for even more stable shots and videos. While the inclusion of a Sony Lytia 700 main sensor looks new, it is essentially a rebadged version of the Sony IMX890 1 / 1.56 ″ of the Zenfone 11 Ultra. This is supported by the same ultra -wide telephoto lens and 32MP 32MP.
In a resolutely Samsung-Esque turn, most of what is new here concerns the features of the AI. Followed by AI, ai Portrait Video 2.0 and Clarity Vocal ai for the camera; AI Transcript 2.0, summary of the AI article, summary of the AI document and call translator Ai elsewhere (plus the Google circle to search, naturally).
All this takes place on Android 15 and the company told Tech Advisor that it would obtain at least two major updates and five years of security updates.
Overall, it seems to be a perfectly accomplished flagship phone, as is its predecessor. But we cannot help consult something a little more … or rather, a little less.
It is available in Ebony Black, Sakura White and Sage Green from $ 1,099.99 for a configuration of 16/512 GB. There is no word about the prices or availability of the United States.
On the 11th Ultra was £ 869.99 during the launch, it therefore seems that an increase in prices is on the cards.
