The brutalist, the history of the continuation of the American dream, is one of the main pretenders of this year's race for the Oscars. Directed by Brady Corbet, the film won nominations in ten categories, including the best film, the best director, the actor in a leading role and an actress in a support role. The film has already won three Golden Globes and five prizes at the 81st Venice Film International Festival, including the Silver Lion.
The film tells the story of a Hungarian-Jewish architect László Tóth (Adrien Brody), who, after having survived the Holocaust, immigrated to the United States. Thanks to the rich industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (Guy Pearce), László begins to work on a monumental building which can secure the future for him and his wife, Erzsébet (Felicity Jones).
The brutalist is a really epic story with a huge execution time of three hours and 35 minutes – it even contains a 15 -minute break. Despite certain controversies concerning the use of AI, Corbet's film is considered one of the most visionary films of this year. The story of the ambitious architect is undoubtedly better seen on the big screen. However, if you want to know when the brutalist appears on the media at home, continue to read our guide.
