With the revival of Daredevil, I decided to see season 3 again for the best Marvel television series.
Although a little slow to start, season 3 of Daredevil saw Matt hitting his lowest point to date, while he was struggling with his faith and alter-ego. Meanwhile, the working ankle stood up (literally, in this chic penthouse) at full power. He manipulated the FBI, a large jury and more to make his auctions.
I had initial concerns about how Born, you again, given the lighter hearts of the characters from Hawkeye and She-Hulk, but the new teasers and information have resolved these concerns a bit.
The first sequence promises brutal violence, as is the shocking note 18+. Only season 2 of Daredevil, season 1 of Iron Fist and the two seasons of Punisher were given in the history of Marvel television.
However, the MCU has been slightly incompatible with its tradition in recent years, and after revising the end of Daredevil, I identified a key point of the intrigue which requires more explanations. If it is not addressed, I do not see how this MCU series will correspond to the attention to the details of the original Netflix.
Spoilers for Daredevil season 3 and echo below, as well as rumors of the intrigue for Daredevil: Born Again

How does Wilson Fisk become the mayor of New York after Daredevil?
I will be the first to admit that it is always great to see the mind of Wilson Fisk in play. While yes, we all like to look at this absolute unit crush someone's head in the door of a car, he Shine even more with its calculated chess movements which are often ahead of Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page.
The trailer for the new Disney +show, Daredevil: Born again, reveals that he used these intelligent to enter an incredibly lucrative position as mayor of New York, reflecting a popular arch of comics. However, it was far from where it was when Daredevil ended in 2018.

While Fisk managed to corrupt some of the FBI's highest officials, his public image was by no means polished. Many scenes have represented generalized public demonstrations against him.
It seemed that the tide began to turn around in his favor during episode 11, when he delivered a speech after being uncompromising (with part of his “ influence '', of course), blaming the deaths in The city on Daredevil – murder which he secretly orchestrated by using Ben Poindexter, alias Bullseye, dressed in a perfect imitation of the vigilant costume.
Everything came to collapse thanks to the registered video confession of the late the special agent Ray Nadeem, who blew up the lid on Fisk's plans, appointing all the people involved and detailing his involvement as a key accomplice.
After a fight with three killer between Daredevil, Kingpin and Bullseye, Matt ended the victory. In the end, he could not resolve to kill Fisk and rather chose to punish him by sending him to prison – and finally, far from the love of his life, Vanessa.
His arrest seemed to be very publicized, bringing his name back into the mud and effectively cleaning Daredevil of all the reprehensible acts. So how does someone come back from that, and more importantly, why was Matt sitting on the ground to let it happen?
Fisk begins its rise in Hawkeye and Echo
If the previous MCU properties in which the Daredevil villain appears are considered canon, then we know at least the beginning of Wilson's return era … but we do not know how these intrigue rhythms will play.
An interview with the executive producer Richie Palmer for Polygon seems to indicate that Echo, at least, is relevant, but another article with the showrunner Dario Scardapane for SFX confirms that the spectacle has ignored “a few tricks” of the broader universe.
In Hawkeye and Echo, Fisk operates mainly underground, with gangs and criminals at the street level. He is not yet surrounded by the establishment.
His attention turned to the mayor's position at the end of Echo, with news commentators saying that the city wanted a “naked brawler”. But how could citizens have forgotten the damage and murders that Fisk has already supervised? And how was it out of prison, again? This feat took a complex plan in season 3 of Daredevil.

Why may the Blip have changed the fate of Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again
A possible explanation is the effects of the blip. The wiping of Thanos of half of the population of the universe would overshadow any other event in the world of superheroes, and this could also have created chaos in prisons when it occurred.
Echo shows a flashback with Maya Lopez, who is recruited by Wilson after Ronin killed his father. This implies that Fisk survived the Snap, just like Matt, because he also appeared briefly in a combat scene – although Charlie Cox was CAGEY about this fact when he was questioned by a fan.
If Fisk was not dusted, it could mean that half of the prison personnel were absent, which could allow easy escape. It would also be an ideal opportunity to reinvent its image, the city colliding at Chaos after all those who were sprinkled with retreat – but it would still need a solid public relations campaign to make its promises credible.
Screen Rant underlines that New York allows the criminals previously condemned to present themselves in the elections, so it is not impossible. Obviously, it is also something that we have seen in real life on a much larger scale with the current president of the United States.
But I want to see this process via detailed flashbacks, not just referenced in a thrown dialogue line. Fisk is such a convincing villain because he seems to turn the chances in his favor, even when his position seems completely impossible. Just when Matt thinks there is no way that he can sneak in being taken, he reveals his hand and what he has planned from the start.
It would be a bad service to ignore this complex climb of scale. While yes, I can't wait to see the bloody story of the new wicked muse, I don't want the working ankle to be demoted in the process. The comments of Scardapane in Gamesradar on the fact that there is “more pleasure in moments with these characters and much less navel” triggered alarm ringtones.
Why would Matt Murdock allow Fisk to become mayor?
Matt went to extreme lengths to stop Fisk once and for all in the last episodes of Daredevil. He even fought with the idea of killing him, so much so that this mission almost removed his sense of self. It was only after some are convincing of the best misty friend that he found another way to expose the criminal brain.
It is difficult to believe that Daredevil will allow the working ankle to claim political political in the city, and yet, he discusses it very calmly with him in a restaurant during the trailer.
I would like to hope that this sequence is slightly misleading – it is either a flash, or later in the season that we do not think it, so we always have the chance to see these beats of the plot take place. We know that Matt hangs up his mask for any reason, but even then, he was able to find other ways to stop Fisk. Perhaps legally, via the firm Nelson, Murdock and page.
Marvel 2024 / Giovanni Rufino
In a realistic way, a death close to Matt could be the catalyst. There are speculations that Foggy (or Karen, although it is less likely) can die in Daredevil: Born Again. It could upset the world of Matt, and in his sorrow, he could lose the journey he had to stop Fisk at all costs.
Fortunately, we don't have to wait a long time to find out.
Daredevil: Born Again Drops On Disney + on March 4, 2025, while the 1-3 seasons of the original Daredevil series are also available on the same platform. You can register for an account on the Disney +website.
