The new year doesn't bring good news for Discovery+ subscribers, as the service raises the prices of its two plans in the United States.
Discovery Plus, owned by media conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery, mainly presents documentary productions and reality TV shows from channels such as Discovery Channel, HGTV, Magnolia Network and TCL. After the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery in 2022, the service has retained its autonomy, although much of its library is also available on Max.
In 2024, subscribers to streaming platforms have been inundated with announcements of price increases. Costs have increased for most major services, such as Disney+, Hulu, Max, Peacock and Paramount Plus. Discovery Plus, on the other hand, hadn't increased its prices since 2023… until now.
Fortunately, Discovery Plus' price hike won't be steep: costs for each tier will increase by a dollar.
The prices will be as follows:
- Ad-supported Discovery+ plan – Going from $4.99 to $5.99 per month
- Discovery+ package without advertising – Going from $8.99 to $9.99 per month
Current users will see the price increase on or after their next billing cycle February 7, 2025. Those who want to join the service now will already see the updated subscription prices.
For the moment, there is no indication that the price increase would also take place in the United Kingdom.
