Microsoft has changed its strategy with its operating system and allows its installation for free. This measure is due to the security problems it has generated due to the “fault” of the users. You can now use it without paying, a watermark appears in the lower right corner and several functions are not activated. But, Wouldn’t activating Windows affect my PC’s gaming performance?
Those who hacked Windows did not update the operating system because the fraud was detected. Not installing these updates was a big security issue because many patches addressing the vulnerabilities were not installed. For this reason, Microsoft has changed its strategy.
They “released” their operating system so that anyone could install it. Additionally, they released the updates, which reach all users indiscriminately (at least in theory). The only drawback is that some functions and settings are not available without payment.
Will my PC’s gaming performance improve if I pay for Windows?
If you don’t pay for the license, you will be able to use your Windows computer without much problem. Keep in mind that some functions will not be available such as:
- Equipment customization: It does not allow many adjustments to be made within the operating system, maintaining predefined values.
- Themes: The ability to install and adjust Windows theme is prevented, beyond those provided by default.
- Colors: Prevents changing the color of wallpaper or windows
- Blocking Suggestions: Samples with suggestions, recommendations and news will appear dynamically.
- The Start menu: Being in the free version, we will not be able to customize it or change its settings.
- Taskbar : The same thing happens as in the previous case.
- Synchronization: You will not be able to pair multiple devices and exchange information and data between them.
We find that having a free Windows license comes with many restrictions. Add to this some advanced features and the watermark, present until you enter a license key.
But the big question is whether we will lose performance so as not to have the operating system activated. With the specs in hand and what Microsoft says, you can use Windows 10 and Windows 11 without problems. You won’t have any problems gaming performance or other applications.
We know well at Microsoft that the “official position” usually says one thing and does not necessarily have to be real. That’s why you wonder if it really works to activate it, have free updates, etc., and then have to pay to enter.
Everything should be fine, without further ado
The computer should operate at maximum capacity even if Windows is not activated. Theoretically, this shouldn’t affect performance in any way, at least initially. Quite the contrary, we will have access to all the updates and optimizations of the operating system.
Maybe the order of priorities when rolling out an update is hurting us. The user who paid for the operating system will always have preference. Therefore, if you have not paid, you will be one of the last to receive an update.
If we have a problem, it will be more because of a watermark that bothers us when we play. This watermark usually does not always appear, sometimes it does not appear or is visible after some time of reading.
Under no circumstances should you use Windows activators, it’s a bad idea. These may contain malware or exploit security vulnerabilities to steal information. You can search, there are different websites that sell you very cheap OEM licenses.
