Dyson’s comprehensive cleaning vacuum, the V15 Detect Submarine, will soon be available to buy in the UK.
What is the V15 detection submarine?
The V15 Detect Submarine is Dyson’s first cordless wet and dry vacuum cleaner. This is basically the V15 Detect cordless vacuum cleaner with an all-new additional wet roller head.
When will the submarine be available for purchase?
The V15 Detect Submarine will be available in the UK from 6 March 2024 from Dyson online and in Dyson Demo stores.
If you’re in the US, you can already buy it online from Dyson. There are two models in different colors. The V15s Detect Submarine Absolute in gold is priced at $949.99, as is the V15s Detect Submarine yellow/nickel. Both models come with the Submarine Wet Roller Head, Digital Motorbar, Fluffy Optic Cleaning Head, Hair Crew Tool, Combination Tool, Crevice Tool, Wand Clip, Docking Station, charger and drip tray.
How much will the submarine cost?
In the UK, the sub will cost £799.99. Buy it and you’ll get the main vacuum body and wet roller, plus the Digital Motorbar (the carpet cleaning head), the Fluffy Optic (the green laser cleaning head), a combination tool, a crevice tool, the brilliant Hair Screw anti-hair wrapping tool, wall dock, drip tray and charger. It is a complete home cleaning system.
What are the features of the submarine?
The main new feature of the Submarine is its wet roller head. Now, since this is Dyson technology – and since the brand’s slogan might as well be “Never knowingly under-engineered” – you’d probably expect little more than a squeegee on a stick. And you would be right.
The engineers behind its creation designed “an eight-point hydration system” to ensure your floor is cleaned evenly without ever getting soaked.

This means that the water will pass through a pressurized chamber and every minute, eight evenly spaced jets will release precisely 18ml of water into the microfiber roller. Thanks to its design and the fact that the cleaning head is motorized, you will not need to add detergent. Plain water will be enough to remove stains and get a good clean.
There are two water tanks. The clean water tank holds 300ml of water, which Dyson says will be enough to clean a 110m² space.2 floor – it’s so much more than the average kitchen or bathroom. This would probably be enough for an entire floor in most homes, if you only had hard flooring.
Dirty water is drained from the roller to a separate 360ml waste water tank. The wet roller head has been designed to clean right up to the edges and the lance can get close to the floor to clean odd spots.

But this only covers the underwater part of the V15 detection submarine. It also comes with all the features and accessories that made the V15 Detect such a leap forward from previous wireless models.
There’s the Optic Fluffy Cleaner Head, which is a green laser head that lights up dust and hair. If you’ve ever used a vacuum with headlights, this is very similar, but even more effective. In fact, we’ve found that the most effective way to vacuum with such a device is to turn off your overhead lights and walk around in the dark.
It is also equipped with a color display that not only displays the remaining battery life in each mode, but also – in conjunction with a piezoelectric sensor – displays the number and size of dust particles vacuumed up.
It also comes with some nifty accessories, including the excellent Hair Screw tool, a cone-shaped attachment that winds the hair and puts it in the bin, saving you the hassle of pulling or cutting it off the roller.

We’ve tested the V15 detection sub and will post our review on launch day. In the meantime, read our review of the standard V15 Detect to see if we recommend it.
