It’s a brand new year, but it’s already possible to spot trends among the tech launches and tech show reveals of early 2024. Here are some themes you can expect to see pop up over the course of the year, taking some of the most interesting gadgets from smart home brand EZVIZ as an example.
Focus on sustainability
Environmental awareness has never been higher. Consumers are increasingly choosing to purchase environmentally friendly products. Brands can meet this demand in several ways and EZVIZ provides excellent examples. Energy consumption is not only a consumer concern for environmental reasons, but also because, due to the cost of living crisis, people need to closely monitor their electricity bills.
This can be contradictory with the increasing number of devices in our homes. An obvious solution is solar energy which can be used to charge all kinds of outdoor devices. The EZVIZ EB8 4G camera is equipped with a solar panel, just like the future CB5 camera from the same brand. Even the soon-to-be-launched EP3x Pro Video Doorbell can charge using a solar panel, meaning there’s no need to change the device’s batteries.

But that’s not the only way smart home technologies can help us save energy. Installing a smart radiator thermostat, like the EZVIZ T55, in place of a standard thermostat allows users to schedule heating on individual radiators to better control home heating and reduce heating. waste. Another advantage of these thermostats is that they display the actual temperature of the radiator, rather than a number from 1 to 5, taking the guesswork out of setting and controlling home heating.

But sustainable development is not just a consumer concern. It can be literally integrated into the products themselves, if companies choose recycled materials for the production of new technologies. A whole range of robot vacuum cleaners from EZVIZ – the RC3 and RC3 Plus, RE4, RE4 Plus, RE5 and RE5 Plus – are produced in this way.
EZVIZ’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond manufacturing and use. EZVIZ also invests part of the profits from the sale of its green products to plant thousands of trees as part of a project called “Global EZVIZ Forest Plan”.
“Matter” and smart home ecosystems
Investing in more smart home devices usually results in more apps on your mobile phone and more products that don’t work together. Although the Matter smart home standard has begun to enable seamless interconnectivity between different brands, there is still a way to go before all categories of smart home products are considered.
But it pays to think ahead when planning to purchase new smart home products. EZVIZ is one of the brands taking steps to ensure compatibility with “Matter”. Its upcoming Home Hub A3 will be able to connect and control “Matter”-ready smart home devices that are available for purchase today and those that become available in the future – from EZVIZ and other brands.

The rise of AI
There’s no doubt that smart home devices with AI capabilities are the biggest trend right now: to kick off the year, CES, the world’s largest consumer electronics show, showcased a multitude of smart home devices with AI that had just been launched – laptops, robots, beauty technology.
In most cases, when companies mention AI, they are talking about machine learning: algorithms are trained from data, which allows devices to perform complex tasks. Take the EZVIZ RS2 robot vacuum and mop as an example, which is equipped with a 3K AI camera. The software built into the camera will help the robot vacuum identify everyday objects in the home, including shoes or cables, and determine the best way to avoid them. This type of technology makes robot vacuums much more autonomous; you will no longer have to intervene to save them from a tangle of cables and they will be able to navigate safely around your pets instead of bumping into them.

AI can also help with security: the RS2 has a built-in AI chip that processes images locally to keep its users’ data secure and protected.
More secure housing
Doorbells and video cameras are now commonplace in homes. One of the ways to improve your home security is to improve the quality and range of images you have access to. 4K cameras offer much sharper and more detailed images on your phone. In 2024, EZVIZ will launch a line of 4K cameras, including indoor and outdoor devices.

You’ll also start to see more and more “dual lens” devices, which provide a wider field of vision and fill in blind spots. Older video doorbells generally have a limited field of view, meaning you can’t see, say, a package left on your doorstep, or check later if it’s still there. EZVIZ’s EP3x Pro Dual Lens Video Doorbell will launch later this year and will offer a much more complete picture of what’s happening outside your home.
You also have the opportunity to expand your home security by making the most of multifunctional technology and integrating smart home devices. For example, replace your garden lighting with a camera with lighting, like the EL3 model, or send your RS2 robot vacuum cleaner to patrol your house while you check the data remotely, for greater peace of mind when you don’t you’re not at home.
