G.Skill finally has low latency DDR5 memory for PC

DDR5, finally, G.Skill, latency, memory

The arrival of DDR5 RAM a few years ago led to a notable increase in performanceparticularly in terms of speedregarding the DDR4 we were spending at that time. However, one of the biggest problems with this new generation of RAM has always been that the higher the speed, the higher the latency, which is also not a good thing. Fortunately, manufacturers are starting to offer a solution, and one example is G. Jurisdiction who has just announced his new Low Latency DDR5 RAM. We'll tell you everything right away.

In ordinary terms and for those who are not very educated on the subject, when we talk about RAM specifications we almost always look at its speed, its bandwidth. However, latency, that is, the time it takes to “respond” or complete its instruction cycles, also has a lot to do with performance, and in DDR5 this has always been a burden… until 'now, fortunately.

Introducing G.Skill's New Low Latency DDR5 RAM

G.Skill's new low-latency DDR5 RAM includes models from several of its families, including the Trident Z5 Royal Neo, Trident Z5 Neo RGB, and Ripjaws M5 RGB Neo. In any case, at the moment what they offer are only DDR5 kits at 6000 MHz, but it is expected that soon they will start launching low latency memory kits on the market and at higher speeds.

GSkill Memories

As for the capacities, we will be able to find these memories in kits of 2×16 GB, 2×32 GB, 2×24 GB and 2×48 GB, so between this and the three different families in which they will be available, we will have the spoiled for choice… yes, as we already mentioned before, at speeds of only 6000 MHz, with EXPO profile for AMD at the moment, something that will be good for the platform of those in red because for many years their controller of the memory drags a little.

As for latencies, we talk about “low latency” but how much does that mean? Well, a normal DDR5 kit usually has pretty high latencies which, let's say, averages around CL34-45-45-108 more or less (this depends a lot on the brand and model, as well as its speed, course). These low latency DDR5 memories from G.Skill offer latencies of CL26-36-36-96, much lower and very close to those of DDR4 memory.

Pricing and availability

As is often the case (unfortunately), this information was provided to us directly by the manufacturer but they did not indicate the price, they simply indicate that they will arrive in stores this January and that we will have to look because it depends a lot on the family and, logically, on the capacity of the chosen kit. We asked them when we'll see speeds higher than the 6,000 MHz they currently offer, and as soon as they get back to us (if they do), we'll update this article for the record.
