The excellent Pixel 5 is Google’s current flagship, although it is not available in Europe, but that does not mean that we are already waiting for the arrival of the next models: both the Pixel 6, its natural successor , and the Pixel 6 Pro.
In this article, we’ll explore its potential release date, possible price tag, and what new specs would arrive on Google’s new flagships.
Launch: when will the Google Pixel 6 be released?
The Google Pixel 5 is relatively new, and Google has yet to confirm the existence of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Nevertheless, the Pixel line is getting stronger every year and we are confident that new models will arrive in 2021.
There is a half confirmation that 9to5Google discovered. In Android 12 Beta 1, future Google devices are mentioned several times, and here are their codes:
- Barbet (Pixel 5a 5G): G4S1M
- Oriole (Familia Pixel 6): GR1YH
- Raven (Familia Pixel 6): GF5KQ
- Passport (Pixel plegable): GPQ72
Typically, the new flagship Pixel arrives in late September or mid-October. For example, the Pixel 3 arrived on October 18, 2018; the Pixel 4 on October 15, 2019; and the Pixel 5 on September 30, 2020.
Most likely, the Pixel 6 will arrive in the fall of 2021. In fact, Jon Prosser believes the launch date will be close to October.
During Google I / O on May 18, the company confirmed that Android 12 will arrive in the fall, which makes it more than likely that the Pixel 6 will also make it a flagship that can take advantage of all the news.
Price: how much will the Google Pixel 6 cost?
Price prediction is not that easy as it has changed over the years. So the Pixel 3 went on sale for $ 849, while the Pixel 4 cost $ 759. The Pixel 5 has fallen further in price: 629 $ in France (not available in Europe).
Now we don’t think this downtrend will continue as Google may follow a new strategy. We think the prices would be similar to current mobiles: around $ 389 for the Pixel 5a and around $ 629 for the Pixel 5.
As for the Pixel 6 Pro, it should cost around $ 100 more than the standard Pixel 6.

As we said, the leaks for the Pixel 6 so far have been mostly about the processor, but Jon Prosser has revealed what the design of the new model might be. As always, these renderings are based on real photos.
The renderings in question, made by Ian zelbo, they show off the standard Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro (yes, Google will finally stop calling it “XL”) with a drastically new design.
It looks like Google will bet on a glass design similar to the first three generations of Pixels, with color contrast on either side of the camera. Prosser hasn’t revealed the specs, but the Pixel 6 has dual rear cameras and the Pro model has a slow third.
On the front, the screen has small frames and a screen with a central hole for the camera selfie. You will also see that there is no longer the rear fingerprint scanner, replaced by an in-screen sensor.
The colors are based on the images we mentioned above and an orange top part is presented similarly to one of the Pixel 4 versions. The main rear part of the standard Pixel 6 is white, while the Pro is peach.
Prosser also shows off a champagne gold version of the Pro, which Prosser says “almost looks like a piece of jewelry.”
But let’s not rush. A freelance of Android Police, Max Weinbach, assures us that although the drawing is precise, the colors are not.

Nonetheless, Rjey’s new photos appear to show a Pixel 6 Pro in three colors, one of which matches the images rendered by Prosser. It looks like the orange version will arrive alongside a blue variant and a gray / white variant.
These would be called: “Sorta Orange”, “Arctic Blue” and “Mostly Gray”.

Not much is known about the specifications of the Pixel 6, but rumor has it that Google worked with Samsung to design a custom processor that will debut on the Pixel 6.
This would allow Google to put aside restrictions on Qualcomm processors and position itself closer to Apple, which has been making its own chips for a few years now. This kind of control would improve the Equipment like him Software.
In recent years, cameras have been one of the main reasons to buy a Pixel. While the Pixel 5 traded in the telephoto lens for an ultra-wide, it may be time to introduce some new lenses in the 2021 model.
One of the rumors suggests that Google will move the Pixel 6’s front camera to one side (instead of its current center position). This matches the rendered images of Prosser. The camera selfie It could also record 4K videos.
Another novelty would be an in-screen fingerprint scanner. Code was found in an Android 12 beta that would match the software that enabled this technology.
