Honor announced that it corresponds to Google and Samsung with a new promise to update the seven -year -old smartphone software.
At MWC 2025, Honor revealed that his “revolutionary commitment” to provide seven years of major updates to the Android operating system and safety upgrades for its main devices.
The company has confirmed to the technological advisor that this new guarantee initially applies to the Honor Magic 7 Pro, and will then go to the next Magic Brand Telens.
In addition to the Android and Magicos basic support, Honor underlines that this seven -year update promise will bring future “advanced AI functionalities” to the next generations of magic phones.
Welcome to the party, boyfriend
As we have already alluded, Honor is not the first manufacturer to offer seven years of software updates.
Google was the first to offer this at the end of 2023 with its Pixel 8 range, which also applies to the current family of Pixel 9.
Samsung followed this with its own seven -year update promise when the Galaxy S24 series arrived at the beginning of 2024. Again, it was held on this promise with the next Galaxy S25 range.
Honor is the third manufacturer to offer such an extensive guarantee, and we expect more to be online.

The Qualcomm factor
It should be noted that Qualcomm recently announced that it is collaborating with Google to facilitate manufacturers to more easily offer extended updates.
Starting with the Snapdragon 8 elite and continuing through the next five generations of 8 and 7 series in the series, Qualcomm will support manufacturers with up to eight years of software and security updates.
This should not surprise, then, to note that the Honor Magic 7 Pro works on the Elite Snapdragon 8 chip. Hopefully more flagship phones at the beginning of 2025 will follow the example of Honor and behind this prolonged update promise.
