At some point, you might want to block a certain webpage so that it can never appear on your devices, be it your smartphone, laptop or tablet. It is also very useful if you are going to leave a device with Internet access to a minor.
Although there are several ways to do this, you will have to keep in mind that this is something that will have to be done individually on each of your devices.

Can I block a web page on my router?
Quick answer: yes. It is possible to block web pages in many routers.
The downside to this method is that the website will be blocked on any device that connects to the internet through that router (although that could be a plus if that’s what you’re trying to achieve).
The way to block a website via the router will vary from brand to brand. In this case, we explain how to block websites on a BT Home Hub, on a Netgear router and on an Asus router.
However, if you have a router different, you just need to go to the user interface and search for a content filter or similar – usually in the Firewall section. It should be as simple as typing in a website address and clicking the “Save” or “Apply” button.

How to Block a Website in Chrome
Our favorite tool to block a website in Chrome is Block the sitewhich is free and synchronizes the list of blocked web pages in smart phones Android too.
- Go to the Chrome web store and search for Block Site.
- Click the “Add to Chrome” button at the top right of the page.
- You will be asked to confirm your choice. Press ‘Ok’ and the extension will be installed.
- You will find an icon that reads: “Block website” at the top right of your browser.
- Click on this icon to access the “Block this site” option. Click this icon to block the site you are currently browsing.
- Alternatively, if you don’t want to visit the site, click “Edit Blocked Sites List” and enter the site URL.
This is what appears in Chrome:
Click “Edit Blocklist” to open the following page, where you can add or remove websites from your blocklist.
On the left side of the page, you will see a configuration option. Clicking it will bring up a few options, including adding a password to access locked pages. Clicking on these checkboxes will prompt you to enter a password.
You can add as many web pages as you want to this list, and password protection ensures that only you can edit this list.
