While the Twitch service relies on streaming live content, sometimes you can upload your own highlights or full streams to compile on YouTube (or just as a keepsake, we’re no one to judge).
Here’s how to enable these options in Twitch settings, with step-by-step screenshots. For more Twitch tips, see the article on how to start a Twitch Watch Party and how to broadcast.
Upload your own Twitch streams
If you want to keep track of your own feeds, perhaps for doing YouTube compilations, you need to store your feeds locally first. Once you’ve signed in to Twitch, do the following:
- Go to the top right corner and select “ Settings ” from the drop-down menu
- Click on the “Channel and Videos” tab
- Activate the option “ Store past transmissions ”
With this option, the platform will automatically save your transmissions on your channel for 14 days if you are a user who has recently registered. If you are a Twitch Partner, Turbo, or Prime user, the period increases to 60 days.
After this process, we’ll show you how to upload your own Twitch videos below.
- Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner and select “Video Producer” and it will take you to your previously recorded shows.
- Click on the three dots next to the desired video and click “Download.”
You can also trim videos directly on Twitch if you only want to upload a section or a clip of the video instead of the whole. To do this, click “Highlight”, edit the desired segment, and then click “Publish”.
Once loaded, you can download it directly to your PC or storage drive where you keep your backup copies. You can remove your channel’s playlists if you don’t want it to appear in your made public videos.
The other way to store your past shows is to save them to your computer’s drive. OBS actually offers a record button next to the broadcast button, so you can click both when you’re streaming live.
Note that OBS Automatically export videos to MKV files which are not supported by Adobe video editing software, so you can convert them to other file format.
Other streaming software with recording functions include Streamlabs Yes XSplit .
How to download other people’s shows
Twitch does not currently offer an option to download content from another streamer from the platform. If you want to do that, you’ll need to ask the streamer if you can use their personal downloads or videos through third-party software.
Twitch Leecher it is a simple software highly recommended by the vast majority of users. Download and install the file on your PC, then launch the application. To download a specific video or playlist, you can enter the channel name and date, enter a URL or video ID.
Keep in mind that you should always ask the streamer for permission before downloading any content, and again, ask if you want to download the videos (maybe if it’s a Mod and you want to manage a YouTube channel).
Another well-known tool is Clipr, because it is based on the services it provides through a web browser, where you can enter your subscriber’s URL and be able to download the video you want.
In the Twitch platform, when accessing the transmission options, you must check the option “ Record transmissions ” so that the transmissions that you may have chosen from your subscribers can be recorded.
