If you’re looking for a great streaming service to watch some of the best TV shows and movies, Amazon Prime Video is an obvious choice alongside Netflix and Disney+.
With a solid lineup of originals such as The Boys series, The Wheel of Time and The Lord of Rings: The Rings of Power, it’s easy to see why more and more people are signing up for a subscription. With over 200 million subscribers, it is the second largest in the world.
Amazon Prime Video is part of the wider Amazon Prime subscription service, which costs $14.99/£8.99 per month, or $139/£95 per year. You can also pay for it as a standalone video streaming service for $8.99 / £5.99.
However, you can also watch your favorite TV and movies completely free. Check out our roundup of the best TV streaming services.
Use a free trial of Amazon Prime Video
Right now, the best way to get a free Amazon Prime Video membership is to sign up for a one-month free trial. As long as you cancel before the period ends, it won’t cost you a penny.
You can sign up for the Amazon Prime Video trial here.
The free membership is tied to your Amazon account, so technically speaking there’s nothing stopping you from signing up for multiple Amazon accounts and doing a free trial on each.
However, this is not only a bit cheeky, but also a big deal. However, there are other ways to get Amazon Prime Video for free.

Bundle in Amazon Prime Video with a phone contract
US readers can bundle into a full Amazon Prime subscription with a Metro by T-Mobile plan, which includes Amazon Prime Video. Plus, you’ll get all the extra Prime perks like next day delivery, flash sales, music streaming, and eBooks.
If you’re looking for a new phone contract in the UK, O2 customers can get up to six months of Amazon Prime Video for free on select plans. Alternatively, customers can also opt for Audible or Amazon Music Unlimited.
Sign up for Amazon Household
If a family member wants to share their Amazon Prime account with you, you can use Amazon Household to stream Amazon Prime Video for free. Alternatively, you can split the cost of a subscription between you to get it at a discounted rate.
Here’s what you (or a family member) need to do to add an extra person to Amazon Household:
- Go to the Amazon Household page – you may need to log in to your account first.
- Choose if you want to add an adult or a child
- Add the name and email address of the person you want to add to the account
- Authorize the person to use your account with your payment information
- The guest will receive an email and will have 14 days to accept it.
