Steam Deck was one of the phenomena of the year. Undoubtedly, the most consistent attempt to get into the hands of users the portable gaming concept for the latest releases and important on the market and which land, even, in the new generation of consoles. A fundamental difference that separates it from the Nintendo Switch, which has been the undisputed queen of sales in the video game market in recent years.
Be Careful With Your Steam Library
The thing is, if you’ve just landed in the Steam Deck universe picking up one, or are thinking of getting it for Christmas, know that not all of your steam library is available at launch within this consolidated PC. For many reasons (interface, technical problems or number of errors that appear on the screen), a title from six years or six months ago may not play out as it should and it is important to know that in case many purchases you have made on the Valve store, you cannot use them.
Now, how can we know which games are going to work for us? Valve has designed four categories that define how each of the releases it has on its store will perform. The first, the Check green, it means that there is no problem, that these titles will work perfectly in Steam Deck, as if we launched them on a desktop or laptop. The second is the yellow circle with an “i”, which already signals us minor problems: we can run it but it is more than likely that we encounter errors such as too small interface text or inconsistencies that user can fix by tapping settings.
The third is the forbidden sign. At this point, there is little doubt: a game marked this way will not work
Where to check for new compatibilities
All these icons change over the months since Valve updates the library constantly so that more and more titles work on your Steam Deck. So every time you step into the store or into your library, you can see how changes are happening in the status of every title virtually every week. But since it is very difficult to know exactly when this change occurs, there is nothing like going to an official source to verify it.
Happy Halloween! Here’s a look at the top 10 October releases played on Steam Deck, sorted by average daily user count.
And yes, Vampire Survivors are still around as they recently graduated from Early Access (congrats!). https://t.co/OjOfyXJJsG

In fact, Valve’s Twitter account for Steam Deck is one of the most useful you can follow, because it lists every new version or classic development certified to run on the consolidated PC. What’s included updates of SteamOS and all the additional functions that are added periodically within the hardware.
In any case, there are cases of games that theoretically will not work and which are obtained by adjusting a few small parameters. But if you think so, we’ll tell you another time, right?
