Today, and thanks to the relations of Internet Bandwidth, it is very common to have a library of digital games on platforms like Epic Games or Steam. However, due to the large size of games today, there may be times when you feel like it is downloading too slowly. For this reason, today we are going to tell you what you must do so that epic games download games faster, if possible, of course.
Epic Games Launcher is one of the largest online gaming platforms and has a huge library of games that users can access. The problem can sometimes be related to server overload
First check your internet connection
First, there’s one concept you need to be clear about: that you’ve contracted a 300MB internet connection doesn’t mean you’ll be downloading at 300MB/s; Internet operators give these inflated numbers for marketing reasons (they tell you Megabits and not Megabytes), but the reality is that if you have 300MB of fiber your maximum download speed theoretically (because then in practice it’s almost always less) it will be around 38.4 MB/s. You can check this for yourself using a free speed test, without going any further.
Remember that most speed tests tell you the result in MB/s and not in MB/s, you would have to multiply the result by 0.125 to get the actual data (for example, downloading at 930 MB/s becomes about 116 MB/s
That said, if you’re having constant download speed issues, it never hurts to reboot the router (and ONT if you have one) from time to time, as the patterns the carriers give you are easily saturated. In addition to this, it would be ideal to check that you have certain open ports in the router settings; Epic Games recommends opening ports 80, 433, 443, 3478, 3479, 5060, 5062, 5222, 6250, there 12000-65000.
That Epic Games does not block your download speed
If you’re already sure that your internet connection speed or port blocking on your router isn’t the problem, let’s see what we can do right in the Epic Games Launcher. Unlike Steam, we don’t have much to configure on Epic, but there is one setting you need to make sure is disabled. Open the launcher and click, in the upper right corner, on the initial of your name or your avatar if you have configured it, and there go to Settings.
As you can see in the screenshot we placed above these lines, there is a setting called “Limit downloads”, and obviously it should be unchecked to NOT limit them… if you had it checked, it’s very likely that you downloaded slowly for this reason, and making Epic Games download faster would be as easy as unchecking this setting and restarting the launcher.
