Moreover, the repair, update or maintenance process is very complicated. The company doesn’t like anyone messing with its systems and of course you can’t ask a gamer to do that.
Software
One of the main limitations is in the software, specifically the API used to develop the games. Most games use DirectXan API pOwner of Microsoft. There are alternatives, such as Vulkan and OpenGL which are open source, but less popular.
DirectX is written using instructions specifically developed for The Windows. This implies that their functioning is not optimal and that it would be normal to interpret them under MacOS. Interpretation or translation has a problem: the time it takes to do it. This generates a delay and, therefore, a noticeable loss of performance.
Usage policies
Apple has a few very restrictive software policies which is allowed on your platform. There are many instances of apps that cannot be accessed from iOS and macOS because they don’t allow it. WhatsApp, for example, was banned from iOS for a while. Epic Games Store was also kicked out for not wanting to pay the fees the company imposes for the purchase transaction.
All this could happen to a video gamebe banned or excluded from the platform. This would involve a huge controversy, with fierce attack among video game fans. It could also lead to a lawsuit for abuse of position, although it would be difficult for them to lose.
They don’t want, to put it simply, trouble at Apple, so they ignore this very “conflict” sector.
Intel and NVIDIA, expelled
We can see in new Mac computers that already there are no Intel processors. The company manufactures its own chips to no longer depend on third parties and to have a more closed ecosystem. It was good for them that Intel stagnates in the 14 nm and its vulnerabilities, to pretend that their the tokens are no longer worth.
In another line is NVIDIA. Apple has only been using AMD graphics cards for about a decade, after strong disagreements. He issue what is it in NVIDIA has a closed catalog, Come on, that’s it. Apple doesn’t want that, they want solutions based on their tastes and needs, which NVIDIA doesn’t like. Therefore, the two companies have been at odds for years.
exorbitant prices
Anyone can check the prices of any desktop and laptop computer from Apple. An identical or very similar configuration can cost you between two and three times less if you assemble it in pieces.
Obviously, if at a player you tell him he should pay 3000 euro by a computer that you can ride for 1200 dollars, won’t buy it. It’s one thing to say, 1,500 dollars in assembly, transport and other costs, that you have a pass, but more than double? They will eventually gather dust.
conclusion
There is no reason, there are various factors why Apple does not enter the gaming segment. They do well in their segments, where people pay without complaining. Players are grumpier and if you try to tease them they will complain bitterly on Twitter and their tears will flood the towns.
