Due to the different uses that can be given to it, it is not always possible or feasible to connect a mouse and keyboard to make certain adjustments. The most used solution to solve this problem is to use VNC although other apps can also be used to access remotely.
While it is true that VNC is more than sufficient and offers a large number of additional functions, it is not an easy application to configure. The solution to this problem was created by the manufacturer of this small computer and is called Raspberry Pi connection.
What is Raspberry Pi Connect
Raspberry Pi Connect is a simple and secure method to remotely connect to a Raspberry Pi 5, Raspberry Pi 4 Yet the Raspberry Pi 400 using only a browser, without having to install any applications or carry out tedious configurations which, for some users, are impossible to achieve.
This new feature uses a peer-to-peer connection between devices via WebRTC. If the connection latency is very high, this new service will use the Raspberry servers in the United Kingdom using our account (if we do not have one we must create one) where all associated devices are displayed and encrypting the connection so that no one other than us has access to the device.
Initially, the idea of the Raspberry Foundation is that it is a completely free. At the moment, Raspberry Pi Connect is in beta phase, so the user experience may not be the best at any given time and may have operational issues. As we mentioned above, this new function is only compatible with Raspberry Pi 5, Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 400, since it is only compatible with 64 bits and to install it it just follow the steps we show you below.
How to install Raspberry Pi Connect
This feature is available through Raspberry Pi OS, the official operating system for this device. To activate this new function, simply access Terminal and run the following commands:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt install rpi-connect
Once the installation is complete, you must restart the device using the command:
sudo restart
When you log in, at the top of the desktop, a new circular icon with two dots will appear.
You have to click there and then on Sign to enter the data of the Raspberry Pi account that we must create to use this service. To access the Raspberry Pi using Raspberry Pi Connect, we need to visit the URL
connect.raspberrypi.com
Next, we enter our account information and all associated devices will be displayed. To connect them, simply select on them and the device’s desktop will automatically appear.
