One of the latest fads is the fact that place the plants inside the PC case, which breaks the aesthetic monotony and at the same time gives a unique touch. However, this involves a series of problems, what do they hurt more, what good is it. That’s why we are going to tell you why and what alternatives exist to turn your PC into a terrarium.
On the internet, especially on social networks, you will have seen several aesthetically beautiful PC images with the particularity of showing plants inside. And the safest thing is that you thought it was a good idea to make your tower more beautiful. And we are not going to deny that several of these compositions attract a lot of attention. However, these are still builds made to look good in the photo.
Why not put plants inside your tower?
There are several reasons why a working PC with plants inside may have performance issues, especially if we use natural plants and not plastic plants.
- The first of the problems is that electronics and moisture don’t get along at all and are best kept separate, for that reason alone you should rule the idea out.
- Let’s not forget that these grow and therefore can wrap around the fans or affect certain components and cause unknown problems, even the failure of these.
- Another problem that comes to us with the naked eye concerns the fans that will end up moving the earth that supports the plants inside the box, thus increasing the amount of dust and with it the ambient temperature. This will therefore only be possible, in principle, in liquid-cooled systems and even then it would not be the best option.
It is possible that we have more space in the tower. In this case we can use it to place a small compartment where to put the plants in a waterproof way. In this case, we must ensure that you do not grow beyond space and that continuous temperature changes on the PC do not affect their health.
The best solution is to use artificial ones
Nothing prevents placing decorative elements inside the case of your PC to give it a personal touch, however, care must be taken that this does not affect the health of the components of our computer and, therefore, j ended up degrading it much faster than usual. Of course, if you have an old PC tower that you are not going to use, you should know that they are ideal for setting up a terrarium. If you opt for the solution of using artificial plants, you must take into account that more components inside the case affect the airflow of the fans, so you must increase their revolutions per minute and with that, your PC will make more noise.
Our final piece of advice is simple, emphasize your PC either with a high performance benchmark or a game that has high demands. All this without any elements inside and see how it performs in terms of cooling. If it’s able to maintain a respectable average temperature, that will mean you can put artificial plants inside, of course, and it won’t affect its ability to dissipate heat.
