With the Three Wise Men around the corner, it is the ideal time to sell the Nintendo Switch that you are not using, provided that you analyze, first of all, the price of the new model, if it has still a warranty, its condition, if we include accessories and more. We must also analyze the price range in which it is sold without forgetting to purchase both its condition and the accessories that we include.
To use any console, whether from Microsoft, a PlayStation or Nintendo, the first thing we must do is associate the corresponding account, the account where our progress is stored as well as the games that we purchased in digital format. Unless we also want to sell the associated account, which is quite unlikely, removing the account from the console is the first thing to do.
In the case of the Nintendo Switch, resetting it to delete all its content, including the account it is associated with and all the games we have downloaded, is a very simple and quick process that will allow us to sell the console as if it were has been made public to the future buyer, at least regarding the contents found inside. Unlike some smartphone manufacturers, it is not necessary to have on hand the password for the Nintendo account that we use, which is an advantage when resetting it, but a problem if we lose it since anyone is using, you can restore it from scratch. if we have not activated parental controls.
Reset Nintendo Switch
The process for resetting and erasing all content stored on a Nintendo Switch is exactly the same in the version with independent joy-cons and in the Lite version. The first thing to do is click on the gear located on the main screen of the Nintendo Switch. In the console configuration options, click Console, option located in the left column. In the right panel, click Formatting Options.
From this menu, you can format the SD card, clear the cache, reconfigure the keyboard and format the console, this option being the one to choose.
If it asks us for a security code, since parental control is activated, we must access the Switch application (Parental Control), press Settings then click Password. At that time the password that we must enter in the console to be able to carry out the process will be displayed. The only way to establish parental controls on a Nintendo Switch is through the application for iOS and Android, so this is the only method that will allow us to know the password if we have forgotten it.
In the next window it informs us what the process consists of. By formatting the console we will erase all content stored on the console, including saved data and installed games, leaving it as it was when we first took it out of the box. This process will only delete the Nintendo Switch account, not our Nintendo Account, so any games we purchased through the Nintendo eShop will continue to be available on the account if you purchase another new console or change your mind. I don’t want to sell it. To carry out this process, you must scroll to the end and click on the button Continue.
Finally, a new warning message will be displayed informing us that this operation is irreversible, so we will not be able to recover the data that will be deleted when formatting the device. To confirm, click Format.
It is advisable to carry out this process with the console in the charging station or connected to the USB port since we must avoid interrupting the process for any reason, otherwise we risk completely losing access to the console.
