From switch to paradise
The fact is that Pac man He is one of those characters who has been covered in every way imaginable. From the original arcade to Revisions or 3D platformers that often didn’t do justice to the trajectory and prestige of the protagonist. And if there’s one universal truth around this franchise, it’s that the more new things look like the first, the more gamers love them.
And it was the case Pacman 99a title launched in the image and likeness of the lifelong classic but to which they added an online element where we have to face 98 other players. A pitched battle to survive the ghosts where the last survivor ends up winning. Such as battle royale (Except for distances, of course) that you can play completely free within Nintendo Switch Online, the Japanese service where we find titles from NES, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Mega Drive, etc. at the same time.
Well, the good news doesn’t seem to last a lifetime and, unfortunately, Pacman 99 will cease to be part of the serviceas Namco Bandai and Nintendo itself announced in a press release.
Don’t worry, you have months ahead of you.
If you played with Pacman 99 you will know what is its development, which is even more fun than the original due to the competitive component of the games between so many opponents, so if you want to enjoy it write down the date they set on the calendar for the last goodbye: It will be from October 8th when we stop having it available and free in Nintendo Switch Online.
But although it is the irremovable date, there are two others that will mark the whole process of leaving this showcase where we can play it now. Thus, on August 8, two months earlier, Pacman 99 will remove custom themes that we can purchase shaped like planks, and on September 8 the same will happen with the luxury package and the DLCs of Unlocking Modes.
If you purchased any of these items, be aware that in the case of offline modes, they will continue to work for you beyond October 8. you can continue to enjoy Pacman 99 but without the competitive ingredient on line. What Namco Bandai needs to tell us by the day it leaves the eShop is if there will be a payment alternative or the deactivation of the servers will be total and irreversible. Which, if it did, would be bad news for those who since 2021 have poured their hearts and souls into one of the most devilishly fun releases in the world.
You haven’t tried? Well, enter your Switch now and if you have the paid online service, Download it to find out what we’re talking about.
